I guess I better introduce myself, my names Becky, I'm 27 and I love to have adventures.

When I say 'adventures' I don't mean that I am the next female Bear Gryls, although that would be very cool. I don't even venture abroad very often, not often enough anyway, in fact it's been a year since I crossed the seas surrounding the UK. But I do try to get at least one fun activity, something I havn't done before, in my diary each month and my time off NEEDS to be fun.
Actually, the fact that I havn't been abroad for a while is kind of the reason why I decided to start this blog.
You see, last summer, the summer of 2013, I worked on a YMCA camp in California. I had the best time, met friends that I will stay in contact with forever and learnt so much I grew as a person. Unfortunately not in height though being a mere 5 foot short. Every time I rang home and asked "what have you been doing" they would reply with something along the lines of "so and so have broken up", "wass-er-name has had a baby" and "the weather has been glorious". (What is the obsession between the British and the weather?)
While I was there I came to realise even more than I already did that I live in a beautiful part of the UK. Where else can you see sun rise and sun set over the sea and within less than an hours drive? Can you guess where I live?
My job is working outside all year round so I'm pretty good at making the most of our fresh air, warm yet rainy climate and green landscapes. But on my return to the UK I decided within the next year I was going to make it as adventurous as possible, so when I speak to my friends over Skype or FaceTime, I can say "today I went surfing", or something along those lines. If you havn't guessed yet, I live in the far south west of the country, Cornwall.
In my line of work I get to talk to a lot of people from different areas of the county and more often than not I hear the same thing. When I ask if they enjoy their job, the answer is probably "no". what do they have planned for the weekend? "nothing much" Are they going to be going on any holidays this year? "we're going to Majorca for the 5th year running, same hotel we just love the pool and the Chinese restaurant around the corner". I'm sorry if your reading this and thinking, that is you and if your happy then great, but really. The world, your life and your story can surely be more interesting than that.
When I delve in to deeper conversations you can guarantee they will say "I'd love to go to Australia" or "I'd really like to give rock climbing a go". I sometimes say "well, what exactly is stopping you?"
So I want to show people that you can do the things you want to do, there is life past the Tamer Bridge (which separates Cornwall from the rest of the UK) and it doesn't matter where you live, it is as fun, adventurous and beautiful as you make it. No matter how big or small the dream is, make it a reality. It is only you stopping yourself.
Do you want to walk through the gates to heaven in one perfectly formed piece or slide through screaming, battered and like a well read story book.
Your life is a story, make it as interesting as you can!
